Microsoft has entered into a tentative deal to purchase the VOIP company Skype for $8.5 billion. This is one the most aggressive and influential purchase in Microsoft’s history. According to gaming site Joystiq, Microsoft has plans to integrate Skype into it’s Xbox and Kinect (hello Skype with Kinect). The good thing is that it appears Microsoft will continue support for other devices and platforms.
