Apple and Samsung have been heavily embroiled in a series of Patent disputes around the globe, and it seems that it may finally be winding down. In a joint statement, Apple and Samsung announced that all Patent disputes in other countries than the U.S. will be dropped. Suits in countries like Australia, Japan, the U.K., Germany, and the Netherlands will all be dropped.
While they appear to be moving toward settling the disputes elsewhere, the battle still rages on here in the States. Even as their business partnership has fallen apart, possibly as a result of this, they both seem unwilling to cede ground. Judges have steadily tried to convince both companies that settling out of court would be beneficial for all parties involved, but both companies feel the need to protect their brand at all cost.
Let’s hope that eventually this will all be settled, somehow. In the meantime, let’s get ready for that iPhone 6 announcement next month and a Galaxy S6 that we know is coming right around the corner.
