So whether you know anything about technology or not, Friday was a pretty big day. Almost every news station had some coverage of the crazy lines outside of Apple stores and wireless stores, and almost every line was filled with a range of people, from the dedicated fanboy to the first time smartphone buyer. I stopped by my local Verizon store and talk to a representative who told me that by 1 pm, that they had already surpassed the previous year’s numbers by fifty percent. Yowza.
Fast forward to today.
Apple is stating that, over the past weekend, they have sold more than 5 million of the new iPhone 5. (I’m not quite sure of the break down by carrier, but if I find out I’ll make sure to make note of it.) Also, more than 100 million iOS devices were updated to iOS 6. The iPhone 5 will be expanding its release to 22 more countries on September 28, with 100 countries total by year’s end.
Here’s a list of the 22 countries receiving it on 9/28:
- Czech Republic
- New Zealand
