Nokia introduces a new music, aptly named Nokia Music, to accompany their litany of strong services. The best thing about this service is that it is totally free. Unfortunately, the bad news is that it’s only available for Lumia phones. Nokia Music will work similarly to other music subscription services, in the fact that they will have dedicated “musicologists” who will manage music playlists (150 of them to be exact). A few other notable features include:
- Ability to create your own playlists
- Completely ad free, and no registration needed
- ‘Gig Finder’ – allows users to see live concerts, gigs, and shows in their local area
With the release of Nokia Music, I think it seriously adds some diversity to the music service field. Will this do to music apps what Google Navigation did to navigation apps? Will this be an added plus for consumers looking to try Windows Phone? Who knows, but Nokia has definitely gone all-in on Windows Phone. We’ll see if this helps.
