If you haven’t heard by now, Google is apparently planning to bring a nexus tablet to market, and it seems ASUS has been tapped for its production. PhoneArena has been sent supposed renders of the fabled tablet, and from the looks of it I’m sure they’ll be getting a call from a certain set of lawyers, Apple’s to be exact. Now I can obviously see the differences, but that’s neither here nor there.
With Google’s I/O conference coming up in the next few weeks, this may be one of the devices demoed and given away. The Nexus tablet is rumored to run Android 4.1, not Jellybean (Android 5.0) as previously assumed. The ASUS Nexus is rumored to cost $199, putting this tablet in direct competition with the Amazon Kindle Fire, and making it more accessible to the average consumer.
How does fit in with Google’s plan to release a whopping five Nexus devices later this year? We all assumed it was just smartphones, but maybe there will be a tablet or even a NexusTV? We’ll keep a close eye on this developing story.
