So apparently people love these new tablet/eReader things. Who would’ve guessed it? All kidding aside, it appears as if Barnes & Noble had an amazing holiday push on their Nook devices, more specifically their Nook Color and Nook Tablet. The worrisome thing is that this doesn’t include the traditional e-Ink Nook Simple Touch which fell below expectations. Maybe, it’s time to move away from e-Ink displays? Mirasol display, anyone?
According to Barnes & Noble, over the holidays, they saw a 113 percent increase over last years numbers during the same period. Estimated revenue for the upcoming year is set to reach $1.5 billion by the end of the fiscal year. Is that enough reason to branch out? Barnes & Noble seems to think so, but I think they should keep things together for the foreseeable future and revisit the idea in the next few years.
