Along with the announcement of the Kindle Fire, Amazon also talked up its exclusive browser Silk, which was created specifically for the Kindle Fire. The thing about silk is that it isn’t built like traditional browsers. It has the unique task of splitting the “heavy lifting” of the browser rendering content. Some of the work will be handled by the Kindle Fire, but some of it will be handled by Amazon’s Cloud Computing. It will be very interesting to see how this will translate in the end-user experience. From the videos, from the press event, it seems to be very snappy and quick. Hopefully I’ll be ale to get some hands-on time with it to give you guys a better assessment. Until then enjoy the video below explaining just what Silk is and how it’ll work.
